Damar was a 24th century Cardassian government and military leader who served under Gul Dukat and succeeded him as the leader of the Cardassian Union, under the Dominion. Fed up with being the Dominion’s puppet and sacrificing the lives of millions of Cardassians for their cause, Damar eventually rose up and led the Cardassian Rebellion against the Dominion.

4) Star Trek: Deep Space Nine:
What was released? From 1994-1999, Playmates offered a variety of 4.5-inch figures based on Deep Space Nine. Eventually, the waves of figures were merged into a line that encompassed all of the various Star Trek series and films.
What went wrong? Although it is more fondly remembered now, at the time of its initial airing DS9 didn’t garner much respect. Paramount was too busy focusing on Star Trek: Voyager and the films featuring the Star Trek: The Next Generation cast to give Deep Space Nine much attention. In turn, showrunner Ira Steven Behr and company went on to make the best Trek series to date. The downside of this is that the show totally got the shaft when it came to the toys.
What should have been done? Too consumed with releasing endless variants of Captain Picard and various shitty aliens from Voyager, Playmates completely neglected to make figures based on DS9‘s long-running Dominion War plot — resulting in fans of Nog, Admiral Ross, Ezri Dax, Weyoun, General Martok, the hologram Vic Fontaine, Odo’s evil mom, and other characters being shit out of luck. It may be small consolation, but Diamond Select Toys/Art Asylum is finally releasing some of these red-headed Trek stepchildren in their limited Deep Space Nine line of figures.

Intendant Kira Nerys

Universe: The “Mirror, Mirror” universe of Star Trek

Differences: Like evidently every alternate universe counterpart, Kira Nerys in this life finds herself a military officer of the Klingon-Cardassian Alliance’s armed forces, with absurdly hedonistic and deviant tendencies of her tyrant lifestyle.

But while she may have murdered or tortured at least half of our favorite mirror DS9 crew, nobody (particularly nerds) objects to the thought of hot Kira-on-Kira action.

Mirror Ezri Tigan

Universe: The “Mirror, Mirror” universe of Star Trek

Differences:  Unjoined by the Trill symbiont in this reality, Ezri Tigan took to mercenary work for the Klingon-Cardassian Alliance rather than her prime-universe career as a Federation science officer.  And when she wasn’t busy coercing people into stealing cloaking devices, she was totally boning both Intendant Kira Nerys and Mirror Leeta.

God bless alternate-universe fan fiction.

Benny Russell

Universe: Star Trek: Deep Space Nine‘s “Far Beyond the Stars” universe, wherein all of the Star Trek universe exists as the imagination of 1950′s African-American science fiction writer Benny Russell.

Differences:  You don’t get much more different than a Starfleet Captain and heroic leader actually being a disturbed and racially abused sci-fi writer from the ’50s.  And while we’ve seen the “is our universe real, or is theirs?” story done to death across countless programs, this alternate-universe Benjamin Sisko made for some of Deep Space Nine‘s most provocative storytelling to date.
